Opening on Holocaust Remembrance Day 2016, JUDGMENT AT NUREMBERG takes us back to post-war Germany for a front row seat at the original trial of crimes against humanity. With an atrocity as immense and unfathomable as the Holocaust, how do you begin to mete out justice? One overwhelmed judge from the back roads of North Carolina has to find a way when he accepts the role of Lead Justice for the Nuremberg Tribunals in 1948. But as the Cold War heats up and alliances shift, he's about to find out just how quickly American values can be twisted. Haunted by the victims, denounced on all sides, torn between the cries of his nation and his conscience, can he find a way to stand up for justice amidst a whirlwind of lies, denials, and half-truths?
Adapted for the stage from the iconic 1961 Hollywood Film, this epic drama still smolders with the rage of six million victims fifty-five years later. Back in 1961, the Film was the first time many people saw the Holocaust images that are now burned into the World's conscience. Today, of course, discussion of the Holocaust is thankfully much more wide spread. But JUDGMENT AT NUREMBERG still stands out with its unvarnished depiction of one man's quest for justice in a time and place where justice seemed impossible. Part courtroom drama, part history lesson, part psychological study, part political discourse, this intensely human tragedy is sadly always relevant in our World where "crimes against humanity" are by no means a thing of the past.
"A nation isn't a rock. It's what it stand for when
standing for something is the most difficult."
